Restoration Room Logo Reveal

This blog is all about Restoration Room’s logo reveal! It’s an exciting thing, creating a logo that speaks to the energy and vibe of your business. I’ll tell you about the journey of our logo and what it means.

The Saguaro

Restoration Room is located in Tucson, AZ. If you've been to Tucson and surrounding area, you know that our 'signature' cactus is the saguaro (said like Sah-WAR-oh, no 'g' sound at all).

Saguaros are the largest cactus in the United States, commonly reaching up to 40-50 feet tall, and they are slow growing, in the first eight years of life, a saguaro only grows between 1 and 1.5 inches tall!

Saguaros only grow in the Sonoran Desert, which is a tiny part of Arizona, New Mexico and California. They can’t be found anywhere else.

I often imagine the saguaro dancing at night when no one can see them. I’m sure they do!

Saguaros are magnificent, unique beings, much like the humans Restoration Room serves, so it makes sense that they be an integral part of all we do.

Here are more enchanting facts about the saguaro…

• Saguaro are a sacred plant to the Tohono O’odham and are used for both sustenance and ceremony.in the Native American culture.

• Each saguaro is unique to the next one. Once you’ve seen one saguaro, you’ve seen one saguaro.

• The saguaro is resilient. It grows in the hottest (in summer) and coolest (in winter) climates, with burning sun and little water.

• Its roots are shallow, only growing 3-5 inches deep, but they stretch out wide beneath the ground, usually about 4 feet around the saguaro. The saguaro’s roots have special hairs that can collect up to 200 gallons of water during a rainfall.

• You can find 100+ year old saguaros growing off the side of a cliff, with many arms, however, generally a saguaro won’t grow an arm until after 75 years or so.

• A saguaro heals itself from wounds caused by woodpeckers, fires or other natural misfortunes.

• Each spring, saguaro bloom with white flowers and pink fruit to sustain the wildlife around them.

• They provide sustenance and life to all creatures of the desert, even humans. And when they die, usually after an average lifespan of 150-175 years, their glorious bodies are returned to the Earth.

Logo represents resilience, wisdom, history and magic of Humans.

Lindsey’s drawing

After learning all these facts about the saguaro, I knew they had to be in our logo, representing the resilience, wisdom, history, and magic of humans.

I reached out to my sister-in-law Lindsey and described what I was thinking….

She sent me a few sketches of my vision, and then I partnered with a designer to make them come alive.

Here’s what we came up with. Please leave me a comment with your thoughts about the logo, the saguaro, or life in general.
